Narrow Angles will be released on Monday 25th March.

The first single, Relative Worth is available to listen to here - www.soundcloud.com/musicbakery and can be downloaded from iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. Huge thanks to the BBC Introducing and BBC6 teams for their support, especially Tom Robinson.

We will be performing a special home town EP launch show at The Brickyard, Carlisle on Thursday 21st March, with House of Three Hands supporting. We’ll also be on BBC Introducing earlier in the evening to play some acoustic tracks and discuss the new record.

The art work was done by Tinhead, we love it. He’s also been responsible for a lot of work for the band FOALS. You can check out more of his stuff here - www.tinhead.tumblr.com.

We can’t wait to get the record out and start touring again, we’ll be announcing more news on this in the coming weeks.

Relative Worth / Narrow Angles

An update….

It’s been a little while, but we’re really pleased to be able to finally announce some great news. Our debut EP, ‘Narrow Angles’ will be out very early in 2013, and our new single Relative Worth will be released next month - December 17th. It may not make Christmas number one, but we’re extremely excited about the releases and we can’t wait to find out what you all think of the new songs. We’ll also be doing a few dates just before the single is released, supporting Glasvegas on some of their UK tour dates - Sunday December 2nd Manchester O2 Academy 3, Monday December 3rd Newcastle O2 Academy 2, Monday December 10th Dumfries Venue.

We’ll be announcing more dates and plans for the EP launch in the near future, but for now, head over to our Facebook page for a look at the single artwork and some new promo shots we did last week.

Our fans in Italy can also tune in to the series FREAKS on DeeJay TV and YouTube to hear another of our new songs, Little Blue.

Last weekend we were lucky enough to perform at the Henieken Jammin’ Festival in Milan, alongside some outstanding bands, including Crystal Castles, New Order and The Cure. We had an amazing time, and need to say a massive thank you to our manager Marco Boccabella and all the team from Rock TV in Milan - their support for our video helped us bag the slot and we can’t wait to get the EP out and everyone to hear it now.

Blake is currently in Rome working on the final mix with Marco and our good friend Daniele Fiaschi, before it comes to London for mastering next month. We’ll announce more news then. Til then, rehearse, write, work, save, repeat.

This is a live studio performance of our track We Get To Drop, from our sessions at Diapason Studios in Rome earlier this year. We recently spent a few days in Milan filming a session of this track for Rock TV and we’ll have more news about what we’ve been up to soon. Let us know if you like the track - we have only ever performed it live to date.

It was great to get back playing a few more local shows recently too. We really enjoyed performing in the main tent at the At The Playground Festival, in Whitehaven. Saw some class bands, touring and local - Twisted Wheel, Pigeon Detectives, Ocean Colour Scene, Vanya, House Of Three Hands, COLT45, Sails and loads more. The next day we went over to one of our favourite venues anywhere - The Cluny in Newcastle, for a support with Swedish band Niki and The Dove, who were amazing - check em out all over Radio 1 at the moment. As usual we got great support from our faithful Newcastle friends, who came out in force as ever. Next we did a home town show for Cumbria Institute of the Arts at Carlisle’s Methodist Church for a Jools Holland-style ‘Later & Live’ gig, with a very small invited audience and hosted by the BBC’s Helen Skelton. We hope to have some footage to post very soon. Good luck to all the students who put on the show as part of a collaborated final year exam. It was really different playing in a Church; the acoustics were great and the whole team did a really good job, thanks for having us!

We’re currently writing and rehearsing and we’ll be announcing news on what we have coming up soon…

New Year, New Plans…

So this is our first Tumblr post, we figured it was about time the wider world of social commentary was embraced, and we hope to share with any one that cares our tales of musical mischief and endeavour and make this site a regularly updated blog with news, photos and videos.

BVP wrapped up a great 2011 with a home town show at Carlisle’s Brickyard on December 29th, with support from the awesome House Of Three Hands (Manchester), and Jakarta Club (Cumbria). It was the busiest we’ve seen the venue in a long time and reminded us there’s no place quite like home with 275+ local fans rocking out to our new songs, which, with any luck, will be reaching the ears and (legal) downloading fingertips of y’all this year. With Radio 1’s Big Weekend, signing our first management and record contracts and a two week pre-production trip to Italy in 2011, the Brickyard show topped off what has been the most progressive and positive year so far in BVP’s history. Big thanks to our manager Marco and the whole team behind the EP - Daniele, Gaicomo and Andrea for all their help, guidance and advice.

So we re-grouped back in Roma on January 2nd, still buzzing from our final show of 2011 (or more likely our New Years Eve antics). The plan this time was far more straight-forward: record the EP. Utilising the comfortable and extremely old-school surroundings of Diapason Studios in uptown Rome, the first challenge was to decide which songs to put on our first ‘proper’ release for the label, following May 2011’s Sew Up The Sky single and recent free download On The Cards. I shan’t give any details away, but we’re all extremely happy with the final tracklist we settled on. The recording process was typical enough of BVP - me (Adam) and Blake laid down rhythm tracks first to click, something which we’ve relentlessly practiced for over a year in the rehearsal room back home. Then the dream team that is Neil ‘The Face’ Harper and Beej ‘The Fizz’ Johnston recorded their skull-numbingly awesome guitar parts with the guidance of the insanely talented Daniele Fiaschi, whom we’re extremely lucky to have onboard the production team with his seemingly limitless knowledge of pedals, amp settings and music theory. After two weeks, myself and the other three boys came home to sunny Britain, whilst Jen stayed on an extra few days to record her vocals, having waited patiently day in day out whilst we poured over every detail of the music.

We also managed to play an amazing show over there, at Rome’s legendary Piper Club. This place has hosted the likes of Nirvana, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Genesis over the years so it was with much excitement and pride we took to the stage on Sunday January 8th to deliver a 50-minute set of new and old tunes to a near 800-strong Roman audience. It was interesting to observe the similarities and differences between UK and Italian gig-goers. Firstly, the show was not merely limited to a few bands demonstrating their craft simultaneously. There was all manner of performing arts, vintage fashion boutiques, modern art exhibitions, home made food and extortionate drink prices to keep the atmosphere varied and lively. One chap performed an erotic (so we’re told) monologue wearing only his underpants and a particularly fetching leather gimp mask before the second support act performed. The reception to our set was thankfully really positive, with cries for an encore rewarded with a rendition of the re-worked On The Cards. I’m not sure we’ll ever follow Great Heights Give Nosebleeds with a ballad again, but hey-ho, they seemed to dig it.

The five of us got up to all sorts of fun and there wasn’t a day we didn’t all cry with laughter about something or other, so all in all, the best start to the New Year we could have wished for - the EP tracking is done, we played our first gig outside the UK and we’re all psyched up and ready to hit the road and promo trail as soon as the EP is mixed and mastered.
